Frequently Asked Questions
-
Snip & Giggle specialises in children’s haircuts, from baby's first haircuts all the way through to teenagers, and then up to adults and seniors! Families are our favourite!
-
That’s very common, and absolutely normalised with Snip and Giggle. Many children feel unsure and apprehensive about haircuts at first.
At Snip & Giggle we take a very gentle, patient approach, allowing time for children to settle, ask questions and feel comfortable. We work at your child’s pace and celebrate every small win along the way.
Sometimes the first visit is simply about building trust — and that’s perfectly normal. We have a great track record at having our little clients feel confident and calm
-
Yes! Wiggly children are part of our job!
Haircuts may take a little longer with younger or energetic kids, and we approach each haircut with flexibility and patience. Parents are welcome to sit close by to help their child feel secure.
-
Yes. Snip & Giggle is designed to be sensory-aware.
Many children with sensory sensitivities, anxiety or neurodivergent needs find traditional salons overwhelming. We aim to create a calm and supportive environment, and we adjust our approach depending on what works best for your child.
If your child has specific needs or triggers, please let us know when booking so we can plan the session accordingly.
-
Sometimes children decide they’re not ready — and that’s okay.
If a child becomes too distressed, we may pause or stop the haircut for a little while, and usually we can get back on track if everyone is patient and calm. Our priority is always making sure children feel safe and respected. Often a second appointment becomes much easier once trust has been built.
-
Most haircuts take around 40-70 minutes, depending on the child’s age, hair type and comfort level. We take our time to achieve the absolute best results possible.
Some appointments may take a little longer if extra reassurance and longer breaks are needed.
-
We kindly ask for at least 24 hours notice if you need to cancel or reschedule your appointment.
Late cancellations or missed appointments may incur a cancellation fee. This helps us manage our schedule and offer appointments to other families.
We completely understand that children get sick or have lead lice unexpectedly — just let us know as soon as possible.
-

A little preparation can make a big difference.
You can help by:
• talking positively about the haircut
• letting your child know what to expect
• bringing a favourite toy or comfort item
• showing them photos of the Snip & Giggle experienceAvoid using haircuts as a threat (“If you don’t behave you’ll get a haircut!”), as this can sometimes increase anxiety.
-
For toddlers and younger children, appointments earlier in the day often work best when they are well rested and fed.
-
That’s okay. Haircuts with young children sometimes happen in stages.
We’ll always do our best to achieve a beautiful result while keeping your child comfortable. If needed, we can refine the haircut at a future visit once your child feels more confident.
-
Sometimes we take photos of finished haircuts for Snip & Giggle social media or promotional content.
We always ask permission first, and children’s privacy is respected at all times!
-
Regular trims every 6–10 weeks help keep hair healthy, manageable and easier to style.
Children who visit regularly often become more comfortable with the haircut process over time.
